TONY’s Reviews …

‘Tony Pancella has matured into one of the most promising pianist of his generation. It is a beautiful and very emotionally stimulating experience to listen to Tony Pancella at this special time in his life. I can say, unequivocally, that each successive listening of his CD’s gets better, which is really what this art form is all about!!”
Keith Copeland (international top jazz musician)

“…. his controlled technique put him aside from the virtuoso – romantic – piano players so frequent into the Evans-like piano players of today. (…).”
Gino Fortunato (JAZZ, ‘n Blues ‘n Around)

“If there was such a thing as a “pure jazz musician” in this multicultural glogal village of ours, then italian pianist Tony Pancella would have a strong claim to the title…”
Barry Davis (The Jerusalem Post – Israel)

Article/Press Release

”The new year holds great promise for Magdalena Reising, singer and harpist of The Blue Café Jazz Ensamble, with dates booked for a tour, two impending albums and plans in the works for a line up of summer festivals.
Her sumptuous elegance and smoky vocals will be joined by the phenomenal Steve Thompson ( double bass) and Alex Eberhard (percussion) as they invite the world class Italian pianist Tony Pancella to guest on their five day UK tour.
The ensamble will be performing songs from Magdalena’s latest album Blue Café as well as her impending two albums. They are booked to record immediately after the tour.
Born in Glasgow to Polish parents, Magdalena will also be going back to her heritage as she records a collaboration with the ensemble on a unique collection of original jazz arrangments of poems by Rabby Burns and Galczwnski.

The new songs from her new album Glass Of Life are the fruits of a deeply felt creative high, with lyrics spanning the themes of longing, love and loss to the emergence of Spring. The sound is a laid back, stripped bare and reflective affair, with a strong John Martyn influence.

Reviews;

“Magdalena’s rich deep voice, accompanied by the brilliance of Steve Thomson on double bass ‘will transport you to a place of low-lit glamour.”
Wave Magazine

” the kind of subtle magical power happening at the Blue Café won’t be held across the Pond for long.The similarly charming and talented Corinne Bailey Rae became a Grammy nominated sensation and a major presence on the U.S. pop and jazz charts, and there’s no reason why Reising couldn’t follow suit with enough Stateside interest and promotion.
